Early Learning and Play Instructors

Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your love of being in nature and the outdoors with your desire to help support and educate our communities youngest minds? 

We are currently looking for individuals to join our team as Early Learning and Play Instructors for 2023.​ 

The Nature School Early Years Life Skills program is for young children aged 3-5 years, and operates completely outdoors. Each terms has a set program and set of skills to be focused on, these range from shelter building, knot tying and lashings, tool use, fauna and flora identification, fire safety, bush walking and arts and crafts using natural resources. 

Our instructors help facilitate children’s growth and their individual journey to become confident and competent young individuals who are curious and expand on their independent thinking.

We are looking for individuals who have the following criteria:

Essential

  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Drivers License
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Physical fitness
  • Demonstrated passion and experience in delivering innovative early childhood education, school-aged, outdoor education and/or environmental education programs.
  • Understanding or knowledge of delivering inclusive education that supports all learners, including students with additional needs
  • Understanding of working with children who are encouraged to take safe risks in a natural (bush) environment, including but not limited to, the monitoring and management of risk posed by wildlife, weather, fire, intruders, and children’s health issues, as well as ability to assess sites for nature-based learning and play.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working collaboratively in a small team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to appropriately converse with children, parents, and other staff.

Desirable

  • Experience in delivering outdoor education programs.
  • Experience in progressive or alternative approaches to education.
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation and program development, and the creative application of the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework), MTOP (My Time Our Place), or other relevant industry frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation and program development in a nature-based learning setting.
  • Qualification as an Early Childhood educator (Certificate III, Diploma or working towards either), Early Childhood Teacher, Teacher’s Aide, Primary School Teacher, or Environmental Educator.
